Thanksgiving is past, and I hope you had a wonderful time with family and friends in relishing on all that has transpired over this year.
As we move from the spirit of thanksgiving to the spirit of giving, I’m excited to introduce two giveaways.
Readers, if you have a writer in your life, this gift is for them. Perhaps the writer in your life has finished a manuscript and it’s ready to be critiqued, edited, or proofread. Enter to win one of two editing packages from two skilled editors who have a passion for helping writers succeed.
Wouldn’t your writer love you to pieces if you presented them with an editing package for Christmas?
Karin Beery writes contemporary and speculative fiction with a healthy dose of romance. When she’s not writing or editing fiction, she’s editing or writing business copy through Write Now Editing & Copywriting Services. And when she’s not doing either of those, she teaches locally, at conferences, and through the PEN Institute.
My favorite advice about the writing process: You can’t edit what isn’t written! (So finish that first draft.)
Challenges to my job: Helping people understand the value in what I do. My goal is to help people polish their books and content to make sure it captures their readers’ attention. Unfortunately, there are lots of books and websites out there that haven’t been polished, so many new writers/business owners think matching those standards are good enough. I want to help them understand (and accept) that they can achieve more.
Services: I offer a full range of fiction editing services, though my specialties are developmental and substantive edits. I also love helping business owners and artists improve their websites and promotional material with my copywriting services. When I’m not helping others, I write contemporary romances and develop teaching materials (to help others!).
Giveaway: I’m giving away two items: $100 credit to be applied to any editing or critiquing services, and a copy of the Basics of Substantive Fiction Editing lesson packs (6 classes, $60 value).
Fun Fact: I don’t have a favorite Christmas present – they really are just “things.” But I love this time of year because of the time I get to spend with my family. I cherish the time I have with my family, and it’s amplified at Christmas when we focus on giving to each other and taking time off to really enjoy each other.
Tisha Martin understands the struggles and victories of the writing process because she has worked toward writing a book for over 15 years. In addition, she has been an editor for just as long. She couples her love for writing with a love for editing and digging into a manuscript to discover the rocks and gems so that writers present their readers a masterpiece that will both encourage and delight. Tisha edits and proofreads fiction, nonfiction essays, and technical and academic material for authors, ministries, and publishers.
My favorite advice about the writing process: The beauty of writing is that no writer ever works alone and no writer must ever be their own editor. Each writer has their own community of encouragers and an editor to guide them on the process of the road to publication.
Services: While I offer all levels of editing, critiques and content editing are my specialties. I also proofread and have a timely turnaround with all clients. When it comes to subject matter, I prefer not to work with fantasy or sci-fi genres, but am a huge fan of clean fiction, academic material, and nonfiction essays.
Challenges to my job: I love what I do, getting to help authors polish their novel or project; therefore, no job is inherently challenging. However, I consider it an exciting challenge to discover the best revision suggestions to authors and writers that will enhance the manuscript and bring it to a place of success.
Giveaway: I am offering $175 off of two levels of editing (value is based on a 90,000-word manuscript. Note: Price may vary with word count), or $100 off one editing level. Included with one choice of editing, I am also offering my Fiction Editing Tips and Tricks ($60 value).
Fun Fact: It’s been a family tradition to open gifts on Christmas Eve so we can sleep in the Christmas Day and then enjoy each other’s company around a ethnic food Christmas meal.
